This one was genuinely good; it started out goofy and gradually got more and more tense and sad, frightening, and lovely, my BB and I agreed it was one of the best titles of the last season.

Is it worth picking up? I passed over it because it didn't really attract me, but I am willing to reconsider (if it's good, and if fanservice is minimal)

nayrt

There's a beach episode and a couple of other moments with fanservice, but it's not especially excessive. It's probably about the amount you'd expect from a show with this art style aimed at older dudes.

There's a few clever twists to it and one scene in particular that I think was really done. I found it fun to marathon and it's fairly popcorn flick-y, but I don't think you'd be missing all that much if you skipped it.

If you're kinda interested, I say give it episodes two. The tone after the first episode changes.

I think it's very good, and it has very, very little fanservice. The way the story ramps up the tension and your concern about the characters is steady and well-paced; compassion, kindness, and friendship are the three constants throughout the series, and it blends terror and anime goofiness in to the mix, in a way that only anime can.

tl;dr - yeah, it's worth it.
