Hilary is killing it

(Anonymous) 2015-10-14 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
I like Sanders, but it's so clear how much better of a speaker Clinton is than... anyone else on the stage. She has such a better presence, and even Sanders is kind of floundering right now. Damn is she a masterful orator.

Yeah, although she didn't handle the question about her changes in stances very well... but she held herself much better, and her answer about capitalism will be of more comfort to people in the middle. (Which, honestly, is probably more voters than we realize.)

Yeah, she didn't have a great answer for it, I agree, and did the whole "respond by not answering the question" thing. But hey, she did it very smoothly. Best speaker of the bunch by far (and better than any Republican candidate, too).

This is actually my first time seeing Sanders speak (despite my girlfriend's best efforts; she's a Bernie fan) and I've been impressed by how it seems like he truly cares about what he's talking about. I agree that Clinton is the better speaker but personally I'm feeling more passion from Sanders. Clinton's experience at this is definitely showing and helping though.

I agree that Sanders seems very passionate, and is definitely going for the "I'm frustrated and you should be frustrated too" angle - though I don't think it's been working for all his responses, and he's had some speaking hitches. I think Clinton is just the best politician, and I don't mean that with any sort of baggage to the term - she seems the most prepared and dominates as an orator, holds herself the best, and so far has been extremely respectful to the other candidates even as she disagrees with them. Oratory is an art of sorts, I think, so I admire when people are really good at it. And in the Republican debate, no one was really great at it, and so far in the Democratic debate, she far outshines. Sanders still best aligns with my own views (though I think he's very weak on some issues, like gun control) but Clinton knows how to play the game.

I agree with that summary.

Hillary is a cobra.

I think cobras are cool animals. And, completely unrelated, I am more than prepared to vote for Clinton if she is the nominee. I'm not 100% aligned with her, but I like her overall.

Yeah, cobra was as much a compliment as an insult. Cobras are neat but I wouldn't want to invite one in for tea, and I'd also vote for one over any of the Republicans if I had to.

Headcanon accepted.

I'm not so sure about that

[personal profile] chardmonster 2015-10-14 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
This is the sort of thing I don't think Hillary can win. When she speaks well people say it's a scheme? That she's calculated. Anyone else speaks well and they just speak well.

There are plenty of real problems with Hillary but sometimes her actual successes like these backfire. I guess we'll see.

I agree that she's got haters who are going to interpret her every word in the worst light possible. But honestly, most of those haters aren't voting Democrat anyway, whether or not she gets the nominations. She might alienate some of the moderates, but if Trump actually gets the Republican nomination, I don't think she has much to worry about.
