This. Bourdain's a lucky man to do this for a living, but most of us would have to save up our whole lives to visit even ONE of the foreign countries he features on that show. And that's savings on top of emergency savings in case I get sick or hurt. So yeah, as much as I, too, would love to sit under an umbrella on a white sandy beach while some old dude makes me a Caipirinha and some other dudes are busy grilling me fresh caught fish, that will probably never happen. It would be nice if Bourdain remembered that.

"Most of us" "whole lives" "even ONE"

Actually, you're vastly overestimating the amount of money it actually costs, unless "most of us" means the lower echelons of the US, or most of a non-"developed" country. It's not THAT expensive, even though it is fairly expensive. Both I and mimisardinia were able to travel overseas by saving up for a couple of years, on a pension which is not a lot of money.

How great for you. Some of us don't have pensions or jobs that pay very well, and we DO have lots of everyday expenses, student loans, health problems and dependents. Maybe you could cut us a little slack and at least consider the possibility that it might not be feasible for everyone.

You're being unnecessarily snarky and dramatic. You didn't say 'it's not feasible for everyone', you said 'most of us would have to save up our whole lives to visit even ONE of the foreign countries he features on that show' which is absolutely absurd. The median income in the US is 50k. I make literally half of that, I have a chronic disease and I've traveled internationally multiple times because I know how to save my goddamn money.
