Agreed with this. I love a good twist, I love a story taking an unpredictable turn. But so often a lot of shows seem to rely on that stuff only, and it becomes a gimmick in and of itself. Not everything has to be an "OMG SHOCKER!"

I also share your feelings about spoilers. Perhaps every great once in a while there may be something I might take personal initiative to avoid reading the spoilers for, if it does sound like there might be twists where the surprise is worth it and adds to it.

But for the most part, I can hear people talk about how a episode or movie turned out, or read the synopsis, and yet that still doesn't always tell me everything I need to know. There's still things I'll take away when I finally see it that other people didn't, still things that people won't mention in their recaps that I'll notice, and so on.

Plus, sometimes a story being predictable is kind of the whole point. Like a story that leads to a horrifying ending, for instance. You can already predict and know it's not going to end well, but the story can still make reading/watching about how the characters get to that inevitable tragic end engrossing.
