Guilty pleasure watches

What are your guilty pleasure things to watch (or read). I mean things you genuinely feel guilty about.

These days? Friends. there was a time when I wouldn't have said that was a guilty pleasure, but the about-face on it over the last few years have kind of shamed me into it.

Also Teen Wolf, especially now that it's not very good anymore.

What do you mean by "about-face on it"?

I like it and don't consider it a guilty pleasure per se...

I mean that liking Friends these days is a minority opinion, by far.

I've started enjoying Fashion Police. I watched a few episode of the original version and mostly hated it because I found Joan Rivers' humor both too crude and too cruel.

So I randomly watched an episode of the new lineup. And I loved it. It was genuinely funny and never really crossed that line into cruel. Plus Margaret Cho is hilarious.

I'm not sure if I should feel more guilty about watching it at all or watching it now given everything that went down.

I should not have watched RoboCop 2 as many times in this life as I have. I can outline exactly how much worse that film is than people realize and I still rewatch it every couple of months. It's a sickness at this point.

I also read a comic called Uber, which puts me somewhere between guilt and wanting to take a shower and then maybe go read something like after every volume, like an Archie comic.

House Hunters International and the good Hoarders show.

I hate myself whenever I watch Monogatari, but I can't stop. It's so fake deep and fanservice-y, but the animation is pretty. The worst part is that I've started reading the LNs too lmao.

Faking It - I don't even think it's a good show but it's about a lesbian so I'm in

OUAT- Like again I feel guilty because I don't even like it anymore I'm just hate watching at this point and can't stop myself

Seconding OUAT. Robert Carlyle is becoming more Scottish weekly this season and I cannot get enough of his voice.

I don't seem to be able to keep reading a guilty pleasure. I've tried reading things like Empowered or Peter is the Wolf, but they always get to a point where they're too stupid or obnoxious for me. Discounting porn, which I assume is guilty for most people, the only guilty pleasure I've actually made it all the way through is My Balls.

I have no guilty pleasures when it comes to my family and the internet but when I'm at work no one knows I watch Steven Universe. Because that's what our student's watch so obviously I shouldn't... or something.

American Horror Story (and I don't even like it per se, but I find it weirdly enjoyable in all its awfulness)

I can't stand weddings and I find most of the dresses on that show terrible but I still watch "Say Yes to the dress".

That's the only clothes-related show I can watch because it's entirely based on what the woman buying the dress likes. The point isn't to lecture her on the rules. I can just drool over the pretty dresses along with other people who like them.

I hate weddings, but I loooooove all the TLC wedding shows. Say Yes to the Dress, Four Weddings, that awful My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, and all the various spinoffs. They're like crack to me.

I'm watching The Mysteries of Laura for some dumb reason. I don't know if it's a guilty pleasure, though.

America's Next Top Model. It's a bonus that my sister and I can bond over it as a taste for trashy television is apparently the only thing we have in common other than DNA.

Lost in Austen.

I'm a huge, hardcore Austen fan, and this miniseries is nothing but a poorly written Mary Sue fanfic. Yeah, I feel guilty.

Storage Hunters, it's dumb reality TV and I know it's more scripted than the show wants you to believe but fuck it if I can't stop watching it. I just want to see what's in the biiiinnnnns!

Tattoo reality shows. Currently Tattoo Nightmares and Ink Master if I catch em on telly. So fucking trashy yet fun. But I have waaaaaaaay better things to be doing and watching.

...at least I'm not watching HARDCORE  PAWN like some people in my life!

Jerry Springer, Maury, Jersey Shore, and Twilight. I actually own all the Twilight books and movies, but I keep them hidden away. So much shame. I used to really like the Duggars, but I can't watch them anymore. Ugh, freaking creeps.

Re: Guilty pleasure watches

(Anonymous) 2015-10-15 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
The Twilight and New Moon movies, especially Twilight. I watch it a couple of times a year. #1 guilty pleasure.

Cruel Intentions. I just love how awful and pretty and rich everyone is. Not a terrible movie, exactly, but pretty fucked up in a few ways (Sebastian is a sexual predator and the movie totally forgives him for it and/or doesn't recognize how serious it is. Plus there's some potentially homophobic stuff.)

The Vampire Diaries. This show is the absolute worst, in that "super fucked up and misogynistic and the writers don't even realize it" kind of way. Not to mention melodramatic as shit. Plus, I couldn't help shipping Damon and Elena, even though rationally Damon is a murdering rapist who should have been staked from day one.
