Yeah, as far as I'm concerned, my cat was being very patient and then helped teach the kid a valuable lesson. He was enduring a lot of poking, prodding and pulling from the kid, and finally stood up for himself in the only way a cat can. He didn't even scratch the kid, just hissed and smacked him with his paw.

And yeah, no kidding, sounds just like my brother-in-law. But don't get me wrong, he hates Republicans, too. He hates everything. He's too dumb to even know what he himself believes. I think he mostly just likes being loud and ranting about stuff, instead of actually genuinely giving a shit. besides, of course, when it comes to someone calling out the offensive things he said because you know fucking feminism is destroying this country. *eyeroll*

I remember my brother-in-law had a friend like that, who wouldn't leave their cat alone. My sister finally managed to get the guy to back off, though, and I don't know that my brother-in-law even hangs out with him anymore.

But yeah, animals have the right to react if someone doesn't back off. If someone kept pestering that kid and poking and prodding him even after he said "back off", he wouldn't like it, so he shouldn't do it to animals. My cat is often very nuzzly and playful with me and my family, but if she wants to be left alone, she will let us know, and we respect that.

Ahhhhhhh, well, at least he's consistent :p? But ugh, the feminism thing. Sounds like he's going through some sort of "I'm so cool and edgy and jaded" thing or something.

Is he young? If he's young, maybe there can be hope for him to grow up and change. If he's older, though, then...I feel for you even more.
