The ending of "My Sister's Keeper" book. I don't even know if that is considered a twist but if it is, it is the fucking worst.

I was so glad the movie fixed it.

Really? It made for a very tragic ending, but I actually liked it. I felt it really underscored how much Sara had lost and ignored while focussing so hypervigilantly on Kate. Losing Anna made much more of an impression on her, because she had just figured Anna, like Jesse, would still be around later and that *then*, when she had time, she could focus on being a mother to them instead.

Then again, I hated Sara. She's got sympathetic motivations, but she's a terrible mother to her other two kids, and I can't let that go.

Also, I know I'm sort of irrational with this story, and Sara in particular, because a girl in my grade in elementary school was the result of her parents trying the same thing, only she *wasn't* a match. And even though it wasn't her fault, her parents never really got over her sister's death and always sort of blamed their youngest for it. So I got to see a bright, friendly, athletic girl turn to more and more destructive behaviours to try and get her parent's attention. Behaviours which already included parties, drugs, and sex before we even hit high school.

that book has all of my hate for so many reasons, the ending being just one. Primarily, though, my hate is all for the awful awful mother who was NOT sympathetic at ALL no matter how hard the author tried to make us see her perspective. No, I see your perspective all right and it's definitely a tough road to walk but you are still absolutely horrible.
