I just lost most of my sympathy for you. You actually didn't watch or read the real thing, and then you lied instead of just saying you're not interested? Boooo.

Nah no one's entitled to persist with something they don't want. Maybe this friend is the sort who won't take no for an answer within a fandom friendship so OP thought it was politer/less resistance to say they'd tried it and didn't like it rather than "sampled a little bit of it, got bored, could not be fucked trying to sample it any further to please this person"

Yes, because lying to your friends is always the answer. I personally always feel very embarrassed when I suggest something to a friend, they try it, and don't like it at all. I would be much happier if they just said they're not interested in that kind of thing instead of lying about watching/reading a lot of it and still not liking it.

Just to make things clear so you understand; it's the lying part I take issue with, not OP not wanting to give One Piece a chance.

Whatever, you feel embarrassed, maybe this person in the secret is super rude and pushy. Sometimes it's a valid strategy depending on personality types and energy levels. Friends aren't always ideal, or close, and sounds like OP painted themselves into a corner without meaning to.
