Re: lisa jaster: What do you all think about her comments?

It is true for some aspects. We should make it more socially accepting of women but not physically. If you can't handle the same physical requirements your male counterparts can, GTFO.

You will just be a danger to yourself and your fellow soldiers if you are given relaxed standards to pass.

Ah the stench of male propaganda

I am female (not that you will believe me). And no, I just think that if a woman cannot meet standards that are in place to save lives, THEY SHOULD NOT BE IN A POSITION THAT REQUIRES SAVING LIVES!

Nayrt
Yeah, I don't get what's so hard to understand that protecting the lives of people counts more than protecting the feelings of women who want to join but can't keep up with the standards.

nah, AYRT is right.

Though for the overall question, I'd need more context. did this person actually say the army should be "vile"? were they talking about its hypermasculine culture? because then I'd have a different stance. but physical restrictions should not be relaxed.

I am female, a feminist, and I completely agree.

Are there really loads of people who want women to have jobs that they're not qualified for? I don't. That's not my problem with this rhetoric. It just irritates me that people act like any random man is guaranteed to be stronger than any random woman when in reality the difference in physical strength between the sexes is two overlapping bell curves. So yeah, I'm not for letting people into programs when they don't meet the requirements but I'm also against the casual assumption that women as a whole are weaker than men as a whole. It's a lot more complex than that.
