Hmm... I don't know. I wasn't in love with the comic continuations of ATLA, tbh. The series is still one of my favorite things ever, and I'll do rewatches, but I can't really get into the comics.

And since the series already kind of disappointed me, it's difficult for me to work up the enthusiasm to bother with a continuation... :( I mean how can a comic continuation fix the lack of a canon foundation? Is it going to retcon or what?

Well they won't have to answer to standards and practices presumably. I don't think Dark Horse has any problem showing two women being affectionate, so what was just subtext until the end can be spelled out, they might rewind a bit and show us some flash backs without major retcons, just speculating.

As for the Avatar comics, the first two were kind of disappointing, but I thought when Zuko finally found his mother it played out brilliantly, and the most recent story arc seems to be quite interesting as well.
