LoK definitely had its flaws, but I don't think "Korrasami came out of nowhere!" is a valid critique.

Sure, nobody really expected it because, well, it was a show aimed at kids. But if a man and woman were acting as closely as Korra and Asami, everybody would have expected them to get together.

That's because men and women aren't allowed to be friends in fiction which sucks.

mte. People were shocked at Korrasami because they had het lens. I agree that Korra and Asami's relationship could have been ambiguous (sort of... I mean there was definite flirting/blushing going on in addition to the stuff that could've been perceived as friendly) but the fact that so many people refuse to interpret it as romantic just shows that they don't treat same sex pairings like opposite pairings. If Asami were a guy, people would've spotted the pairing a mile away.
