How dare you, Chris' sense of humor is perfect.

jk, I really wanted to save the stranger too. ;;;

"The Wendigo keeps you alive, so you can feel it strip the skin from your flesh!"

-is hastily killed-

I thought that was kind of funny, in a black comedy sort of way.

Yes! "It immobilizes you, flays you, eats you alive!" he says. But every wendigo kill we see, it immediately decapitates you and strings you up to be bled out. Not all his info was legit.

Does kind of suck that he dies exactly the same way no matter what you do, though. If they didn't want him to live, they could have at least varied his death.

It was pretty stupid that he got killed so quickly, if he was supposed to hunt them for years. Didn't help that his death scene was so undignified, even if H. is apparently one of the stronger beasts.
All of the decapitations in that game were kinda grotesquely lame.

But hey, at least Chris mentioned him in the end credits if he survives. Hypothetically he might care enough to keep his memory alive and inform any of his friends.

Yeah, his death was pretty spectacularly anticlimactic and... 'implausible' is the wrong word under the circumstances, but something along those lines. Not in keeping with what we were told about him.

Yeah, I know game producers have to cut corners sometimes, but it would have been nice if he had died under more climactic circumstances, or if it had taken longer. Not right after he delivered his info dump

For example the player could be offered a choice that would endanger him or save him in one scene. He could still die, maybe even in an attempt to save Chris. It would have fitted his regret of not being able to save the twins.

Technically he did die while saving Chris - if he hadn't had to warn and babysit him, he would still be alive.

ok yeah, he did put himself in danger, but as veteran he apparently thought it was safe enough to indulge Chris. I think his map shows that he hunted them everywhere on the mountain, so the terrain wasn't a disadvantage either. He would have been outside that night anyway.

I think he told Chris to run just before he died, but he was totally surprised by their ability to slice his head off. There was no conscious effort to prioritize Chris' life over his own.

Agree 100%. Like, I know the narrative decision that went into centering the game around the kids, but what a missed opportunity there. I wound up not giving a single fuck about what happened to any of them.

(Until Dawn spoilers)

I just wonder why he didn't tell anyone where Hannah and Beth fell. Hannah didn't seem to have gone very far from where she fell into the mines, so if rescue workers had known where to look, they probably could have saved her. Even if he didn't know Hannah was still alive, did he think their family wouldn't want to know what happened to them?

yeah. The police seemed to be aware of him as well, so why didn't he mention it to them? The police force could have prevented it as well.

Hannah and Beth knew the mountain. Why didn't they search the one area where they might get lost, aka the mines?

Maybe they'll make an FPS prequel with the Stranger as a hot twentysomething.
