Why don't you like Jacob? Is it because of the cheating if you romance him? (which is, admittedly, super shitty. Great job on that one, Bioware.)

Oh my god, whoever wrote those dialogue lines were on something powerful to think they were good. At least we got a good laugh out of it???

Honestly, everything about that romance was underwhelming to me. (Which I was disappointed about because he's hot.) I didn't actually play it after I saw cutscenes.

The dialogue was so unsexy and irritating to me and I couldn't take him seriously. "But the prize" is possibly the most embarrassing dialogue in a Mass Effect game.

The cheating...ah, I'm annoyed by how the romance ended for sure (agreed, great job BioWare) and I certainly don't blame characters for moving on with their lives after a period of time (though I can't recall how long it had been, or if Jacob and Shepard had even 'broken up' by that point; I don't think so, which isn't okay), but it didn't sit right with me.

The romance stuff stands out more than the rest of his interactions...I guess I found him pretty forgettable.

Shep's dialogue was pretty cringe-worthy too, like goddamn. I never romanced him (too stuck on Garrus) but yeah, the Shep/Jacob dialogue was pretty fucking embarrassing.

If I recall correctly, Shepard was gone for six months. When I found out about how that romance ended - and that he knocked up someone else?!?!?!? - I was really, really disappointed. I guess it's because I always thought of Jacob as a really level-headed person, so the fact that he would cheat seemed out of character. Though I've heard that he's a total asshole if you flirt with him and then tell him you decided to go with someone else, so maybe not???

Anyway, he always came across as a very reserved person to me, at least compared to other squad members. I can definitely see how people would find him forgettable when compared to someone like Jack, or Wrex.

That is very true; everything about that romance was pretty bad. Poor decision making, BioWare.

Not sure if I saw that scene, but I did always think that "prize" scene was skeevy. Idk, the wording of the dialogue (again with how bad it was, lol), the way the VA played it...it was a no for me. And if Shepard says, "We're not gonna fuck right now" he seems a bit angry and has a bitchy look on his face when he leaves. The whole thing rubbed me the wrong way, so although I was surprised by the cheating (six months is not that long! At least tell Shepard you want to break up before getting another woman pregnant!) I feel like I shouldn't have been.

Yea. Being reserved is not an awful thing, and a few of my favorite BioWare characters are pretty low-key (Kaidan, who most people hate, lol), but Jacob didn't stand out for me.

Ahahah oh wow, that's really shitty. Okay, now I understand the Jacob hate a bit more. I mean, the cheating was REALLY bad (doubly so but only fem!Shep gets to deal with that), but hearing that just makes him sound like an entitled asshole.

Sob, I love Kaidan so much, it makes me so sad that people hate him for no good reason. :C He's a genuinely nice guy who has his shit together. The fact that he's a beast out in the battlefield is a definite plus.

Favourite: Oh man, it's a three-way tie between Tali, Aria and Garrus.

Lest favourite: Ashley.

Aria is an excellent choice too.

She is not a nice person in the least, but fuck it if I don't enjoy all of my interactions with her.

Favorite: everyone. I seriously love everyone that's ever been aboard the Normandy. Special shout-out to Eve, I love that lady so much. Easily my favorite non-squad member. ;u;

Eve was great! She didn't have enough screentime.

Kai Leng...shit, I forgot to mention him. I would always take that renegade interrupt. ALWAYS. And fist pump the air while cursing about what a piece of shit he is.

She really didn't. I got a feeling a lot of the lady Krogans were like her, so after interacting with her, it always made me sad that we didn't get to interact with the others. She was a great character that definitely deserved A LOT more screen time.

And god yes, I'm a mostly paragon-goody-two-shoes player, but that renegade interrupt is mandatory in any play-through. Fuck you, Kai Leng. Fuck you up the ass with a rusty chainsaw. The only thing worse than him was that bullshit refusal non-ending.

Maybe we'll see more lady Krogans in the new ME. I hope so, anyway. (As well as Turians, etc. I never even got to play the DLC so I never got to experience the lady Turian party member...)

I alternate between paragon and renegade, but even when I'm doing renegade there are certain things I just can't do because they're too harsh. I have a hard time being a cruel, no-nonsense person even in a video game. Kai Leng deserved ALL the deaths, though.

bullshit refusal non-ending

Honestly, I just loathe The Catalyst in general and the entire ending was a big, "WTF is happening" moment for me, and I've never gotten over it because I'm a bitter person who was disappointed that one of my favorite series ended in such a lackluster and bizarre manner.

I'll be so sad if there are no lady Krogans or Turians in Andromeda. I didn't get to play the DLC either with Nyreen (well, not yet anyway), but it seems like she was pretty well received by the people who did. Bioware should take a look at that and consider adding a female Turian squadmate. Or at the very least, have them be more visible in the overworld. The lack of lady aliens* through out the whole series was super disappointing, honestly.

Oh god, I tried doing a renegade play-through recently and I quit not even 10 minutes into it. Shepard comes across as such an asshole most of the time!! Though to be fair, sometimes it's called for, like trying to get Miranda and Jack to stop their crap.

I was one of the people that had the privilege of playing the game after the Extended Cut DLC came out, but everything about the Catalyst still made me want to bash my head against a wall. I managed to make peace between the Geth and the Quarians, so it saying that synthetics and organics can't get along was super infuriating. The only acceptable ending for me was Destroy to get that bastard to be gone forever (and also because I've been fighting its horde for three fucking games, don't tell me that I have other options besides blasting them back to dark space. All other options basically amount to the Reapers winning, as far as I'm concerned).

*that weren't Asari. Bioware can claim that Liara isn't a woman all they want, but the fact that her race was made specifically to fill the sexy green lady alien trope completely shits on that assertion.

Okay, why didn't I mention those...

Both are absolutely horrible. You can't get worse than Kai Leng and as far as I'm concerned Udina is one of the most frustrating assholes in gaming.

I always shoot Udina, too. Fuck that guy.

I can't remember if I shot Udina (I've only played ME3 all the way through once because of the ending)...probably let Kaidan do it, but he definitely deserved it and I don't blame you for it. It would be satisfactory.

I agree with your best list! Not so much the latter half of the worst, but different opinions and all that.
