"Toksvig" sounds Scandinavian, not English.

???

Because last names always indicate where someone was born and raised, anon?
Or maybe they just indicate where an antecedent might have been from.

My last name is Chinese, but I'm American. Surely this idea isn't new to you?

Toksvig's father is Danish, her mother is English. She was raised and educated in England.

She's Danish (as in actually born & brought up in Denmark, not family origins)

The link you cite contradicts you.

"Her father, Claus Toksvig, was a foreign correspondent for the Danish television channel Danmarks Radio, so Toksvig spent most of her youth outside Denmark."

"She attended Tormead School, an independent girls' school near Guildford" - Tormead is a school that covers what would be kindergarten through high school in U.S. terms. It's in Surrey, England. Not Denmark.

"She studied law, archaeology and anthropology at Girton College, Cambridge"- again, in England.

So, she was born in Denmark, but not necessarily raised there.
