You could just as easily say the "poor people are lazy and unintelligent" trope exists "for a reason". Neither are true of all groups of people and that's why representation is an issue.

"Stereotypes exist for a reason" either applies to all of them or to none of them.

I'm... confused by this response. How did race factor in until you added it in? "Rich people are lazy assholes" isn't a stereotype that exists for only white people. If you mean the others, do you think rich Indians or Chinese or Jamaicans don't go to boarding schools and get cars bought for them by their parents?

I'm not white so I'm not seeing the leap I guess.
