+2, kind of.

The richest person I (personally) know is a Sri Lankan who works for the public service with a side job as a fashion designer.

That's the kind of variety I'd like to see in stories that is completely realistic.

A lot of my characters who're both nerdy and in some way privileged are based on my childhood best friend. I've adapted and rewritten her into everything from a self-proclaimed superhero coping with her parents' murder to a brilliant young scientist who's growing uncomfortable with all the help he's received getting where he is.

Yeah she's really nice and smart (and pretty).

Had no idea she like owns a mansion and stuff until someone got all snarky at her for being rich. Like, sure she has nice clothes and does modelling/design but I had no idea.

She is adorably naive sometimes though :P On rural stuff and animals. But not in an offensive way, literally "is this a bird" kind of way.

But no, seriously, that does sound like a person I'd enjoy interacting with - even if our thought processes would be really different! (I'm pretty good as science and not naturally good at things like fashion.) Of course, if she really wanted to know if something was a bird, or any other kind of animal, I'd talk her ear off explaining how various classification schemes work XD
