1. The thing is, the OPs like that have more of a problem than F!S can help them with. They have to decide for themselves whether to hang around with a group of people who are so shallow to reject them over such inconsequential things or put out the effort to be around people less shallow and perhaps 'less cool.'

Or the OPs could be engaging in gross exaggeration. I think at least a little of the latter is involved.

Heh, maybe. I don't really follow the show anymore, so I can't really offer up reasons to potential fans for watching it.

I guess it feels like a lot of people (especially older people) tend to write it off immedietely because the fandom is so freaking huge and full of, well, twelve year olds, to put it bluntly.

I suppose so. But the fact is, Naruto is targeted at younger audiences, so some people aren't going to like it due to how it handles the subject matter. And very young protagonists aren't going to appeal to everyone. Some people who don't like Naruto aren't just dismissing it out of hand - they've tried it and it's not to their liking.

I didn't mean to blame it all on fandom, just that fandom has large contributing factor. Hence why I wrote the whole thing instead of just putting the TL;DR.

I read the whole secret. And I still don't see how fandom can contribute that much to someone's confusion over their sexuality. If you are attracted to both sexes, it means that you are bisexual. Some bisexuals go through periods of preferring one sex over the other sometimes. I think you'd be better served figuring out your feelings than laying the blame at the door of fandom.

I do not blame fandom or anyone else but myself. But I feel it had a large contributing factor in my life. If it wouldn't for you, then you're different. I came to fandom very early on and learnt practically all but the basics regarding sex and sexuality from fandom. And before you start thinking that's unhealthy, I have a very healthy and active sex life. So why shouldn't it effect my sexuality later on as well? Yes, there are other things that happened and contributed, and I mentioned those. At the end of the day, though, it's all me. I stopped going with girls so much. I started writing more hardcore porn. I'm the one now left confused. And I'm the one that wanted to get it off my chest.

This is just another reason why parents should control what their kids do on the internet. And sadly gives those against homosexual behavior ammunition about children exposed to homosexual acts later engaging in those behaviors.

You've got the wrong end of the stick there. If anything turned me on the homosexual route it was going to an all girls school. I spend more time now in the slash/yaoi part of fandom and have become more inclined towards spending my time heterosexually, so I really don't get where you're coming from.

As for my parents? Giant, flower-loving, goddamn hippies. I was encouraged to be sexually open and free from before I was allowed to touch email, let alone fandom. I was also exposed to violent films, TV and video games from a young age too, but have no predilections towards anti social or violent behaviour.

In short, I don't think my childhood gives any ammunition towards what you're saying at all.
