I'm completely late but I totally get what you mean. Before I learned everybody's names I thought Foreman was Wilson because him and House were slashy as hell and I knew House/Wilson was the big thing. It was exciting to think that there was a major slash pairing that wasn't two white dudes. Also, it was highly disappointing to be expecting all this fic about a pairing based on a name mix-up and when you finally get yourself straight to find out there is almost no fic for the pairing you want to read.
