As far as I know they're nice to the people they care for, I just think maybe they think there's disabled people and normal people, and I'm just a normal person who is extra lazy and possibly depressed?
I kind of understand it's difficult for other people, because I am still struggling with changing my mindset about it being permanent. She's not seen me since I started using a wheelchair either, even though I've told her. I even thought maybe it would be temporary when I got it.

Plus, they clearly haven't pondered the implication that, by their own admission, painful and debilitating chronic illness is preferable to their company.

Hahahahahahahahaha. Oh my god. I did not think of that.
Now I'm thinking about the episode of Buffy where Spike tells Harmony he loves Syphilis more than he loves her.
Well that cheered me right up.

Thanks. :)

I hope they don't work for people with mental disabilities if that's their attitude. If you have to "prove" you're sick for them to take you seriously...that's not good.

I think it's coming from me not wanting them to go through my care plan documents. I don't have anything to hide or lie about. I bring all my info with me to appointments and it's just a history of my other treatments and investigations and what further care I need, specifically for my doctors.

She didn't seem to be okay with me not wanting her to act as my carer. There's a difference between family and carers, IMO. I'm not saying you can't have someone close to you in the role of a carer, but that is my decision and nobody gets to make that for me. Even if I'm declared unfit to do so, I have people who actually give a shit about me named on all my legal documents as next of kin / power of attorney. Thank fuck.

That overall just sounds so invasive. Who says they, or anyone, is entitled to be your carer?

So glad you have people you can trust on your legal docs. :) That must be a big relief.

Huge relief! Can't tell you how relieved I am.

The "we are your family" argument only really works when there's evidence that you give a shit.
