And she would be...?

Google image search is saying Jadyn Wong

Jadyn Wong - she plays Happy on CBS' Scorpion

Jadyn Wong? No, really! Rotten, ROTTEN actress...

(Anonymous) 2018-01-09 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
I am referring to Jadyn Wong's pitiful role in Scorpion.

Is it the faked Gagney voice - which she constantly gets mixed up - or is the total inability to act? She seems to have two faces. One is bland with tightly pursed lips, usually while she is uttering some unintelligible lines. The other is a bland face with raised eyebrows. Whoa! Surprise.

And her movements are robotic, and often worse than that - just poised ridiculously like some weird mime artist in the plaza.

Almost every shot is compromised by her total inability to act and her bizarre inconsistent vocal effects. The show is often criticised by storyline and by characterisation and by truly rotten acting... but none more so that yet another "actress" that has absolutely no talent. But the main thing is she still gets to go to all of those fancy parties with the glitz and the glamour and - get this - even then she has trouble flowing and talking... Another Chinese who should have paid more attention to her business studies instead of just, well, "knowing" how great an actress she is and how much creativity she has.

The real question is this - who the HELL thought that she could get an acting role?

Arrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhh...

Is that good or bad?

There are definitely voices that make me feel like crying. I often consider it a good thing, if it makes their portrayal of a character affect me more.

This is why I can't watch Gravity Falls . The girl's voice...

I feel you, sister. Horrible voices make me want to cry and/or punch the speaker. I know they can't help it, too, but it's just an instinctive response. (Technically, they CAN help it, but it requires speech therapy.)

I'm a librarian and have an office that offers no sound privacy whatsoever, and every afternoon this week, this one student has been using a group study table with her friends right outside my office, and she sounds just like a Cutesy Quirky Little Girl cartoon character. She might be a lovely girl, but every time she speaks I want to stuff her in a bag and throw her out the window.

Can't judge. Don't know the actress personally but there have been people in my life and people on TV that I just couldn't stand because their voices just irritated me for some reason I couldn't quite explain. Trouble is there is no way of explaining without sounding like asshole, because like the secret said, it's not like people have a lot of control over how their voice sounds.

Since you say “I know she can't help it" I assume you hate her voice. There's not much you can do about that; sometimes you might be able to overcome that kind of thing by familiarizing yourself with them. They might grow on you, and if they do at that point you might not mind so much.

But it does happen; I try to remember that the person is who you should like or dislike, not their voice. (If you REALLY hate the voice it can be hard to move past I guess, but it is what it is.)

Worse than Margaret Cho?

Sometimes you can't help what bothers you.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-23 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Jadyn Wong's voice doesn't bother me, but it is an unusual voice. There's something about Melissa Benoist (Supergirl) that bothers me, something about the way she looks and holds herself that just doesn't feel right to me, though I can't really articulate it. It's too bad because I liked the cheesy-ass movie and the series sounds a lot better and the supporting characters seem pretty good, but I can't even get through the promos without being bothered by it. It makes me feel terrible, but there it is.

Me too, OP. I also feel the same way about the dark haired woman from Rizzoli and Isles. Google tells me her name is Angie Harmon. I used to watch her on Law & Order and just cringe.

I don't know this woman, but I get your pain. I can't watch Leverage because the blonde woman (don't know the character's or the actress's name) has one of the most obnoxious, annoying voices I have ever heard. I am not subjecting myself to that voluntarily.
