RPF. I don't judge anyone that likes it but I do not get the appeal at all.

I also don't get the near-worship of celebrities like they're flawless beings who can do no wrong, they're just people man and other than thinking some of them seem cool I really don't care that much about them. (Which is probably why RPF holds no interest for me, I don't give a shit about famous peoples personal lives).

I don't get celebrity culture either. You've got photos of these people doing average things and it's supposed to be interesting just because they're famous?

Even when I still read ladies magazines I never got the whole 'omg look, this famous person is food shopping!?!!' like what, am I supposed to be surprised that they need to go out and get food?

Not to mention the horrid stuff that gets written about them when they're wearing lounge around clothes, like omg celebs don't look perfect without their stylists and make-up team, HOLD THE PHONES.

Seeing the stuff people say about famous people's outfits, the way they constantly mock them if they're not dressed in the latest, hottest fashions, makes me SO glad I'm not famous.

I'd be such a wreck as a famous person, just the lack of privacy and the constant scrutiny over their personal lives seems hellish to me.

I don't get the near-worship either. Some celebrity does something bad, people are Shocked and heart-broken, and I'm like, yeah, people fuck up? I get that some people have crushes on celebs, but the pedestal-putting-on just seems unnecessary to me. It makes me think: do you view people you interact with every day as somehow lesser? Yourself?

Well said. Yeah, the only things I'd ever be shocked or heartbroken to hear that someone I liked did would be murder/rape/abuse/molestation...but I would be horrified about that whether the person I liked was famous or not, because, well, obvious reasons!

Outside of that, though? An actor/musician I like has an affair or says something stupid or things of that sort? So have plenty of other people on the planet. I'm not going to rake someone over the coals for being human and making mistakes or stop being a fan of their work if they do stuff like that.

Putting people on a pedestal is just such a bad thing to do in general, they will mess up, they will disappoint you, it's just a matter of when.

Yeah I've always figured that it was a you get it or you don't kind of thing, and I just seem to be firmly in the don't camp.
