I wonder how 'Ghost Fox' - the only book in this genre I've ever read - would stand up?

When i read it (it was published in 1977), i thought it was pretty neat. Our hero, Sarah, wasn't fawned over by the native Abnaki, she was just a captured slave. She was Irish, i think? Can't remember, but she had very red hair (thus the 'Fox').

When she *did* fall in love with a Native man, the only sex scene i remember is him being above her and snaking his head back and forth, dragging his long hair over her neck and breasts, and how much she loved it, and thought he was so beautiful. Which i thought was awesome 'cause - long hair! On a guy!!

Anybody else ever read this?
