The girl from last week turned up, ranted at the Doctor about the lonely loneliness of being alone and almost destroyed the world because of boredom. There were some Christmas Cracker jokes, and that was it. Dull as anything, but it was clearly a bottle show that allowed them to raid the BBC's period drama wardrobe but it was no TNG:Shades of Gray so we'll call it a win. Oh, and next week the frightfully dull Zygons and NuNIT are back again because Moffat cannot leave his Mary Sues alone. Fuck it all, I'm getting drunk. I've got a bottle of 12 year old Jura and it is going down.

If you really hate the current show that much, why keep watching it? From your comments every week, it seems you haven't liked a single episode this season. Why are you still watching?

The Two Minute Timelord podcast a few weeks ago asked the question: why do SO many people hate-watch Doctor Who, and the answer was pretty much as anon replied, hope. People who used to like it and can't seem to tear themselves away from it, complain bitterly and ostentatiously about how much better it used to be and how it could be again if only the current showrunner/Doctor/etc would fuck right off.

TNG:Shades of Gray? I need details.

PS: Whiskey's gross. Gin's much better.

nayrt

The really, really terrible season 2 finale where Riker gets an infection and dreams up a clip show. It was bad in a dull, forgettable way where you can't even laugh at it like you can Spock's Brain.

It's also a really low bar, so comparing things to it is kind of pointless.

A really low bar which this episode barely stumbles across. How can they suck the joy out of lion-men and highway robbers? I don't know, but Moffat managed it.

Spock's Brain's a classic. Thank you for the explanation! ^^ I don't remember this finale so forgettable's about right, I guess.

I agree, whiskey is gross. It is the most disgusting and debased drink on the planet. Whisky on the other is like drinking pure pleasure.

haha

"Up until quite recently, The New York Times tackled the problem by spelling everything the American way (with an E), regardless of the spirit’s country of origin. But then, last February, the venerable newspaper made a decisive change.

After receiving a raft of complaints from some serious Scotch whisky drinkers, the paper re-tooled its approach to follow that of many specialized spirits publications, spelling each type of spirit according to the way favored by its country of origin."

I see that this's an important distinction.
