Some story I don't remember the name of about some kind of zombie-like creature from Chinese folklore. It was in a book of ghost stories, whose name I also don't remember.

Also some creature I read about on wikipedia - I think it's Japanese, wears a surgical mask because its mouth has been cut open, and asks you a question and will kill you if you don't answer it correctly.

Asian creepy stuff always seems to get to me the most.

The Japanese one is the kuchisake-onna. I love her because all you have to do is tell her she's pretty and you'll be fine (well, except for the version where she cuts you up either way). Also, she's distracted by candy.

My sister is still scared of the first, I tbink. At least it sounds about the same. Hers was something like a chi'ing chitch? I have tried looking up ghost story book compilations for kids and scary Chinese folktales, and I have yet to find anything for her that might be it.

The election results on May just gone. That was fucking terrifying, so many people died that week. So sad. So many more to come.

This is a really difficult question... I haven't been scared by anything in a really long time.

Things other people might find scary though? Maybe Alien or Aliens? That seems to be pretty popular fear fodder for a lot of people.

Or seeing that you have not been banned yet, proof Case has been replaced by a barely sapient diseased sheep. No real mod would let you go on.

I know what scared me this week, it was a story on what the first week of Trump's presidency would look like. I say first week, but it cut short on the tuesday afternoon on account of the nuclear war with France over the importation of fake champagne.

For movies, The Conjuring.

For stories I am going with various creepypastas. Generally the shorter the story the more of a creepy impact is has on me.

Anansi's Goatman. It's not well-written but the things he describes are extremely creepy.

Oh there were some great moments of paranoia in there. So good.

EVERYTHING EVEN REMOTELY SCARY. I AM A WUSS. GIVE ME YOUR OBVIOUSLY FAKE, BADLY ACTED, B HORROR FLICK AND I WILL BE SCARED FOR DAYS. IT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS SCARY.

I know, right. I'm scared by shampoo commercials, don't even ask me about actual horror movies. Life is scary as hell.

I'm not sure for movies because it's mostly specific types of scenes that scare me. For stories though, definitely "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream." There are also two Harry Potter fics that I remember being very scary to me.

I've been watching/reading/playing horror stuff for most of my life so I'm pretty inured to it.

But fucking Afraid of Monsters, man.. Still gives me the friggin' willies, and I've played it almost every October for 10 years.

I don't care for horror films so I rarely see them, but horror games freak me the fuck out. The worst... Idk, maybe Silent Hill 2 for the atmosphere. The background music and sounds, the gritty, gross visuals, the feeling of always being in danger and barely being able to protect yourself... It's tense and the whole thing is unsettling. One of the most scary moments in a video game for me was one of the bathrooms in Silent Hill. I think you went into the bathroom and all the stalls were open but one, and if you knocked on the stall someone or something would knock back, and when the left the bathroom you'd hear the stall open. I flipped out thinking something was going to follow me out and brutally murder me, lol.

There were also some creepy as hell moments in the original BioShock... The statues and Fort Frolic in general, as well as that morgue and the jump scare with the dentist.

Also Outlast. Didn't actually play Outlast, could never because I need the ability to protect myself even if the character is shit at it and has little ammo or weapon selection, but I watched a let's play of it and there were moments I actually jumped and screamed. (I hate when characters get hurt and walk slower...like, no. I get it, especially in horror games but omg.)

roald dalh had some fucked up stuff

and fucked up stuff i read as a kid made a bigger impression on me than anything i read as an adult (fiction wise)

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Event Horizon.

ToD I still can't watch the heart-ripping scene.
