31 You know what? Amen. It's ironic, I adore both Ed and Winry as characters, but I don't like the idea of them being romantically together. No, it's not just because I ship Ed and Winry with other people, it's actually just because of one single reason.

Al liked Winry too.

So it's back to the whole 'lawl, love triangle' thing, where Al gets pushed out of it. Once AGAIN, Ed wins out over Al, and it just isn't fair. It's a petty reason, but I'd like to think that if Ed realised Al had those feelings towards Winry too, he would you know, hold back a little out of brotherly love.

Sure, he has that Mei chick supposedly, but that's not the point. The childhood group gets split up, and I don't like it when that happens. It just doesn't seem fair.

That said, I have read the manga. I just ignore the EdWin bits. OP, it's not so bad, its hinted at, and at the moment it is a little strong, but hopefully we'll get back to the plot soon enough. And Al, for that matter. I like to think that they still don't end up together in the end, like in the anime.

There was no indication in the manga that Al ever liked Winry romantically. He is the one who even teases Ed about Winry. Winry still cares deeply about Al and that doesn't suddenly change if she is romantically involved with his brother. The three of them can still be best friends.

Actually there is. Forgive me for not being able to give a direct reference, but when Ed is in the hospital and Al goes off on one at him when he says that Al's lucky to have a big iron body, or something to that extent, and they later make up, Al says something like 'we fought over everything. Like who was going to marry Winry. I won, but she rejected me'

I admit, I'm basing this more on anime assumptions. I don't really ever like any threesome that has two of them getting together romantically. It's just a pet peeve of mine.

That is when they were really little kids when they didn't understand what it meant to be in love. That hardly shows that Al was pinning after Winry all this time. He certainly hasn't shown it if he was.

I am not saying it is wrong to dislike Ed/Winry I just had an issue with you saying that Al is very upset about Ed/Winry when clearly he is not.

Oh I'm not saying he's upset! Sorry if I worded that wrong, Al seems pretty a okay with it, if I'm honest. Though in the anime, it's hinted that he still likes her when he's older a teeny TINY bit. I don't know the manga as well.

I'M upset for him, is the more correct term.

I agree with this bit whole-heartedly.
Honestly, I have no problem with it in fan-works... I just rather like the lack of canon pairing in the anime, and on the matter of 'What about Al?' I'm not going to get into what's true or not about the relationship status, but I do really dislike how Al seems to have been pushed out of the spotlight in favor of this new turn.

I was under the impression when I picked up this series that it was going to be about Ed and Al's struggle. and, most importantly Ed and Al. So I worry about it straying.

Yeah... currently in the manga, or at least where I last left it, it's all about the EdWin and poor Al isn't getting hardly any attention at all. I mean, crikey, he's the brother whose suffered the most. That's a reason why I didn't want them to end up romantically involved in the first place, and that was it.

:-/ Yeah, I agree with you...it feels really uneven for Al to always be the "little" brother tagging along behind, when in all other aspects he and Ed are such a team.

(Though honestly? I'll admit that the childhood friend aspect squicks me away from either pairing...I can only deal with Ed/Winry when people aren't focusing on the lolololol WE GREW UP TOGETHER <3 bit XD;; )

I always saw Winry more as an older sister to them both, especially with the whole emphasis on going home to the waiting family. It's cuter that way, because they're all still, you know, the same.

I'm glad they focused more on Ed and Al in the anime. It's sad how Al's being pushed aside for EdWin in the manga at the moment.
