I have no problem with them that I don't have with anyone else in the entertainment industry: overpaid, and occasionally way too arrogant.

And I think you'd be surprised. I used to work in a game store, and most sports fans that came in definitely appreciated the finer aspects of non-sports videogames.

People are a lot more versatile than other people give them credit for, I think. This is a big problem in anime and videogame fandom.

Really? I've gotten weird looks trying to so much as seriously discuss and theorize video games with casual gamers... XD; granted, key word is casual. But yeah, I have met people who at first glance wouldn't look like gamers/anime fans and then they end up having a genuine interest in it, they just aren't in the fandom.

Actually, my mom's friend has read gay romance novels and my friend was so taken aback that her mom could actually relate to yaoi, so I get where you're coming from. I think I'm just unlucky with the people I hang out with (read: I need to get out more).
