Judging from the TOTALLY VISUAL KEI LOLOLOL style of the rest of his shirt, I doubt it would have a hem. It's probably just a cut or a rip.

I used to tie dye my dad's underwear (well, a clean pack, no way I was touchin' that stuff. :<) as a joke birthday present.
