This! To me, it's especially the case for movies with human characters. Something about the animation and the designs (mostly speaking about Disney here, since a lot of their recent designs are ridiculously similar) just isn't doing it for me. i usually don't mind it as much with non-human protagonists.

i can still watch a 3d animated movie and enjoy it. Some are amazingly pretty. But they definitely don't have the kind of warmth good 2d animation has. Was going through James Baxter's tumblr yesterday, and god his videos are gorgeous.
