The dogs should be seen by vets. Please do not buy some over the counter flea treatment or collar. Those can irritate your pets something terrible.

I have a brand of shampoo and a flea & tick treatment that I know doesn't bother him, but thank you for the concern. I bath and treat him regularly, which is why he's never had fleas. Wish the guy had done the same for his dog.

*thumbs up* Just wanted to get that out there because I've seen a lot of people instinctively grab the first treatment they find, and sometimes it goes badly.

If you're poor, such as you might be if you're renting a room in someone's house, I'd take a chance with flea treatment. It's non-irritating for most pets. Vets can be very expensive, and you still have to buy the flea treatment.

Many vets will work payment plans. Some insurance covers pets. Pet owners need to be able to cover routine costs. Taking chances on things that are known to cause problems is how you rack up even bigger vet bills, when you get adverse reactions.
