I don't understand why you don't want to do it "just" to hand out Halloween candy. It sounds like something you really want to do, and people dress up all the time to hand out Halloween candy. Kids will get a kick out of it, but mostly, it's an excuse to dress up if you don't have any parties to go to.

You could find a con to go to? I love dressing up but Halloween isn't celebrated in my country so I just go to all the cons instead.

Life is too short not to have fun. Dress up and have a good time!

If you want to do it and have the ability and cash to put together the costume, I say go for it. It isn't like you have to get rid of the clothes and supplies after your first time using them; you could keep them and use them again later. (If you DO get invited to any Halloween parties in the future and you still feel like dressing up as Harley, or if you're interested in cons, or hell, just dressing up for your own amusement.)

Even dressing up to hand out candy is pretty neat, imo. I'm sure the kids would rather get candy from Harley Quinn than some random adult in a t-shirt and jeans or whatever.

Yeah, this.

Once you've got the costume sitting around, OP, you may find places to wear it to!

(Anonymous) 2015-10-28 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh, that fucking costume.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-28 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
It does seem to be super-popular for some reason I don't understand, but whatever. I figure there's still way more Batmans (Batmen?) wandering around than Harley Quinns, so it's not going to upset the cosmic balance of the universe if OP adds one more Harley Quinn costume into the mix.

I'm okay with it because apparently it's only one of several costumes for her.

for god's sake stop fucking formatting secrets this way

(Anonymous) 2015-10-28 08:21 am (UTC)(link)
I like the formatting, just to spite you!

(Anonymous) 2015-10-28 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
It's a teensy bit silly to be bummed about something that's entirely within your control, OP. If you're looking for permission to do this, permission granted.

Honey, there is no such thing as too old for Halloween. I'm about to turn 60 and I still love to dress up.

Yes, there are parties and parades. I live in Brooklyn and hop over into Manhattan for the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade, which is fun, weird, and amazing.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-28 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude. Dress up to pass out the candy. Kids fucking love it. It's an extra step to show you love it as much as them.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-28 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Have your own party!

(Anonymous) 2015-10-29 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Anon, I was alone and miserable a few years ago on Halloween with no trick or treating or parties to go to.

My solution, for this year and every year since? Just buy a shit ton of candy and watch a horror movie or two as a treat to yourself. No costume needed.
