and forgotten

too bad

Don't be a douche.

Their movies were never my thing, OP, mostly because Jerry Lewis and comedy are not two things that work together in my head. I like Dino's singing though

+1 to not liking Jerry Lewis' comedy, but yes to liking Dean Martin's singing.

I'm sorry.

A lot of Jerry Lewis' characters annoyed the crap out of me. I could get behind some Dean Martin/Joey Bishop or some Dean Martin/Sammy Davis, Jr., though.

Dean Martin/Sammy Davis Jr in Cannonball Run.... <3

I never really liked Jerry Lewis, but liked Dean Martin. My comedy duo of choice was Bing Crosby & Bob Hope.

Yes! Bing Crosby & Bob Hope were so great together.

Abbott and Costello for me!

Laurel and Hardy for me -- at least those two were genuinely *friends*. I used to like Abbott and Costello, but once I found out that they hated each other, it ruined their movies for me.

While I didn't love the movies -- except Sailor Beware, which I always watch when I'm sick -- I do love to watch all the old Colgate skits. The one when they're in prison is golden.

Still, comedy was different then. It's not the kind of comedy people look for now. It's not snarky enough.

Not OP

Well, it's the comedy I look for, and, last time I checked, I'm a person. Also, it's plenty snarky if you're smart enough to get their jokes and references. Their entire act was based on snark and jibes...

What lovely words?

(Anonymous) 2015-10-28 08:21 am (UTC)(link)
I feel ya, OP! It's funny because I read "Dean and Me" before seeing even one second of them as a duo. Of course, I then proceeded to find everything I could. I love the Colgate skits and the radio show.

Basically what I'm saying is that you aren't alone :D

I love some 40's and 50's movies but not the ones with these guys.
