lady stuff

When your periods are wonky, you're sure you're not pregnant, and your last gyno check was normal...what do you do? Do you just leave it or investigate further?

To be honest it could be stress and I don't want to spend a lot of money on figuring out it's well, stress.

On the other hand it does sort of worry me.

My approach was to spend 10 weeks thinking I was dying from some mystery ailment, until I finally got my period. I'd recommend not doing that. If it genuinely bothers you, a doctor visit is not out of the question, but try de-stressing first, if you can, and see how that goes.

it's not painful. It's just more irregular and lighter.

weight loss/gain? many women have problems with their periods at a certain weight, or when losing/gaining weight...

I lost some weight last year, but not in recent months.

How wonky, and for how long?

Mine were somewhat weird a bit back (my cycle went from 28 days to 35+ for instance), but that was during a stressful time though, . For me it calmed down after a couple of months (it shifted my cycle from starting my period at the beginning of the month to the middle of it, and also made my cycle consistently one day longer than my normal one for whatever reason).

Like I said above, more irregular, lighter and maybe shorter. Also more violent pms I guess. I first noticed like 1,5 years ago, when I skipped a full month. I've since skipped a full one again, though mostly it's just a week or two off. I've always been irregular, but it was more days than weeks.

The lighter period thing is fairly recent - maybe 6 months?

Echoing previous anon. Have they always been wonky, or is this a new thing?
I know that several of my family members have very messed up cycles, and they all went to a gyno at least once to confirm that everything was ok, just an irregular cycle.

Always have been a bit irregular, but it was semi-stable after my teens, and it's more wonky than it was 2 years ago.

Definitely consider other factors. There's age, diet, lifestyle, other life changes, or even stress as you've mentioned.

Once I dropped a significant amount of weight when I was 21 and was getting my period 40 days apart. That was... interesting.

At 35 and some shitty habits later, they come once a month but OMG do I spot more than I ever have in my life.

I lost weight last year, but not excessively so. And I have more stress than usual.

Just leave it. Unless you're getting weird odors/discharge/pain, in which case get back to the doctor. But your period can be fickle, especially when you're under stress.

Eh I just kind of ignore it. According to period tracker I am 14 days then 23 days then 14 days then 23 days etc between periods. I suspect it is due to implanon but I'm in less pain and it's not to much trouble to deal with.

Hello, person who is like me! I always get annoyed, because it seems I have more period more often than not, and I do especially hate the "2 weeks later" version. I'm always jealous of people who have the really long cycles, like 40 days apart. Must be nice! (Period envy. I guess it's a thing!)

Heya! I like to think this means I'll get menopause faster and not have to deal with it anymore XD whole lot of mess and bother

Re: lady stuff

(Anonymous) 2015-10-28 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
I've kind of wondered that myself. Theoretically, we should run out of eggs faster, so maybe? I'm not sure if that's how menopause works, though. Or maybe we just have more eggs in the first place, and that's why there's more periods.

Has your diet changed in any way? My period got more bright red (and there was less of it) when I started adding algae in my diet (Chlorella).
