Re: Questions Thread

I e-mailed my former professor two weeks ago asking for some academic-related advice (nothing specific or immediately urgent). He got back to me right away asking the best way to connect, and I responded right away... but now it's been two weeks without hearing from him. I'm not currently his student and he's in the middle of a semester and likely very busy.

Should I wait a bit longer? Or send him another e-mail? He's pretty important in my field and the last thing I want to do is harass or bother him.

Two weeks, I think you can chance another email. I'd forward the last email back to him with a note politely asking if he had a chance to look into your issue.

I'm not a prof, but I get a LOT of email every day, and once the email disappears from my screen (buried beneath new emails), it vanishes from my brain. I will eventually clean up and delete enough that I'll find it again, but it can take a while, so I've told people to send reminders if I don't get back to them after a week or two.

Daily reminders would be obnoxious, but two weeks certainly shouldn't upset him.
