It is a new battery :( not sure what I can do about hardware but damnit I will use this thing into the ground.

You can't do anything about hardware except send it to the refurb center if it's still under warranty, unfortunately.

Do make sure the battery is connecting properly and that there's no dirt in the socket, but other than that ... it might be time for a new phone.
