I'm in the opposite place as you, OP, because I watched the trailer and my first reaction was "...why isn't she being funny? Why aren't they letting Chloe be in another funny show?!"

(I will never get over Don't Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23 getting cancelled.)

Seconded so hard.

(I wish Netflix would fix the episode order.)

When I first saw her in Breaking Bad all I could think of was her being rich ditz Gia Goodman from Veronica Mars. But that fell away quickly, and I think it'll be the same here. I think she'll be great in Jessica Jones. Soon she will BE Jessica Jones.

I still can't see her as anything but her Veronica Mars character. Idk why.

I know how you feel. Rami Malek's character's storyline in Until Dawn hit some sore spots of mine, and bam, I automatically dislike anything he's in. Josh isn't even a bad character. If anything, he's the most interesting and well-rounded one in the game. But my psyche has apparently put a big "nopey nope" mental sticker on his face now.

I think it's pretty normal.

For me it is her "Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23" character. That character rubbed me the wrong way so much that as much as I want to watch and like Jessica Jones, I don't know that I'll be able to do so.

I haven't seen her in anything before so I've got no issue with her playing Jessica Jones, but I get how an actor playing a character you really dislike can ruin other roles they play.

You aren't obligated to watch Jessica Jones, but since you say you were excited for it maybe you should give it a shot anyway.

I know it can be hard for some people to distance certain actors or actresses from a specific character, but you could always give it an episode or two, see if that remains a problem.

At any rate, I STILL haven't watched Breaking Bad and I'm super excited about JJ. The trailers have the same feel as the Daredevil series, so knowing the tone is similar is yet another reason for me to be pleased; Daredevil was a massive surprise for me. I hadn't enjoyed a show that much in a long time, and I'm hoping that JJ is just as good.

I just wish I didn't have to wait...

Now I really don't want to see Breaking Bad, because I like KR so much.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-30 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
she was great in it, so I think you should! The storyline involving her packed a serious emotional punch though (but to be honest, so did the whole show.)

(Anonymous) 2015-10-30 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
you should, she's great (and BrBa is just great), you'll like her, you'll hate her, you'll feel immensely sorry for her

(Anonymous) 2015-10-30 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
aw, I get that. Guess that means you never saw Don't Trust the B or Veronica Mars, then. She's got a lot of range, as seen between those shows and Breaking Bad, so I'm pretty sure she'll be able to swing you around to seeing Jessica Jones as her own non-Jane entity.

(Maybe you could try out one of those two shows before watching Jessica Jones, if you really really don't think you could separate her face from Jane? Both are good shit and worth watching just on their own merits! And if you really were excited for Jessica Jones, and were here for everything about it but the Breaking Bad sads, then a detour into a funnier show to see her playing happier might be just what the doctor ordered)
