Looking for cute/funny yaoi manga

(Anonymous) 2015-10-29 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Anyone? The only one I've read is Honto Yajuu which I really loved, but I have no idea where to look for more.

The only trope I can think of that I am especially looking for is Right Hand Hottie, but I have no idea how realistic it is to hope for a non-creepy story about a guy/assistant couple. I'm really open to anything as long as it's not creepy or too serious though.

Have you tried other manga by the same author? Honto Yajuu is one of my faves and I love the author's other stuff. There's a ton on KissManga: http://kissmanga.com/AuthorArtist/Yamamoto-Kotetsuko

Yume Musubi, Koi Musubi (published in English as Bond of Dreams, Bond of Love) has great characters and a story that is well worth the four volumes it takes. The couple has a not insignificant age difference (one's 17, other's mid-20s), so if that bothers you stay away, but otherwise, I definitely recommend it.

Kankei wa Mada LV.1 (published in English as The First Stage of Love) is another one of my favorites. The style is a little yaoi-handsy, but if you can get past that, it's an anthology of super cute and fluffy short stories. One of them even has a chubby kid as the main character - how often do you see that in any manga, let alone BL? I love it.

Nise x Koi Boyfriend is really perfect in a lot of ways. Guy is scared of a punk dude in school, guy is in love with a cute girl he meets one day, guy is hilariously oblivious to the fact that Cute Girl is actually Punk Dude crossdressing (meanwhile, Punk Dude has no clue he doesn't know they're the same person). Lots of funny and adorable misunderstandings happen and it all gets worked out in the end.

The Miscreant Next Door: another mistaken identity one. Awkward glasses guy moves in next door to big scary bara, stuff progresses, they have a lot of cute blushy sex, the big guy bottoms which is nice, look it's really hot I don't know what to tell you.

Summer Switch is a short but cute one: a young man returns home from college in the big city for the summer, and things get awkward around his best friend. The main character's kind of a big, soft-spoken guy, his friend's a loudmouth delinquent, and their dynamic is a great one.

Sorenari ni Shinken Nandesu is one I haven't read in a while, but I remember liking it a lot. It's about a single father with an adorable kid, okay, you really can't go wrong there.

Uchi no Darling Gaikokujin is a funny one. Have you ever told a friend that a phrase in another language means "hello" or something innocuous like that, when it really means "I love you" or "marry me"? What happens if they try it out and the person they're talking to actually accepts the proposal? A lot of cute, is what.

Absolutely anything by Junko is also worth checking out; her art style is adorable and her stories are majorly awww-inducing. Konbini-kun is one of my favorites, but I don't think I've read one of hers that I haven't liked.

OKAY THIS IS GETTING REALLY LONG so I will stop here. If you're looking for more recs, Consensual Yaoi Collective is, well, exactly what it says on the tin. I'm not going to say that everything they rec is good, but the fact that it's consensual already puts it a step above most yaoi out there. They've got a lot of stuff on there, so take a look maybe!
