That's my plan. Hope it works.

I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH BEER FOR THIS.

Keep flip flopping. It turns out on the first day I actually have plans (all-day plans), so I'm not sure whether that means the universe is telling me something.

I mean, Sunday is pretty much the only day I have to do it for the rest of the week...

(I wasn't really planning on finishing anyway. Just actually coming close to a finish, for once.)

SA - And no, I can't cancel them, or rather I won't - these plans come first. :P

I will! I'm going to be writing two papers during November too though, so I'll have to see how far along I'll get.

I might use it as a excuse to motivate myself to write 1.7k a day for several unrelated projects I've been meaning to work on.

Yes. This is the first year I actually have a concrete story idea that I have a beginning, middle, and end for; I've half-assed it off and on since 2007 so I'm glad to finally take it seriously.

I want to, but if I do I'm going to have to start late because I have massive stuff due the beginning of next week :(
I'm hoping the local NaNo group will be willing to accept me even if I'm late.

Not sure I'll be able to 'win' - I have a basic idea, but I've done very little plotting etc. on it, so not sure if I'll be able to go the whole 50k.

All the NaNo groups I've come across have been really friendly. I'm sure they'll love to get new people no matter what point in the month it is.

It seems really huge, so I'm kind of worried... but hopefully they'll be nice ^^

I kind of wanted to put together my own group with some friends who are into writing, but I'm not sure they're really devoted to the idea, and there's no point, if they're not going to be serious about it.

I've often wanted to participate in this but I've finally decided that NaNo isn't meant for me. All the long stories I want to write are fanfiction. I don't want to be a "rebel" and sneak fanfiction under the radar. The only appeal of NaNo would be the community and if there isn't going to be a community, then it's no different from writing my usual way.

I did sign up for a Big Bang and I'll be working on that in November.

NaNo is for fanfiction too! The point is just to write those 50 000 words. Fanfiction is even listed as a genre on the forum.

Yeah, no. It's clearly not meant for fanfiction so I'll stick to my own corner.

I thought fanfic was totally OK for Nano? I mean you can put it as a category for your novel on the website. Or do you feel that other users might not appreciate your efforts since you're writing fic?

Best of luck with the Big Bang and have fun!

I asked about it here before and other places, and it's clear to me that NaNo loves it's original fic. People can do fanfic but they're not really wanted. I'd rather not expend the energy on a place like that.

Thank you! I'm sure I will.

Dude, I do fanfic every year. It's always been really well-received. You should go for it!

I'm so excited to get started! I've been doing a lot of outlining over the past week and I'm so much more prepared now. Now I want to get a second outline further along so I can start on another story if I finish my main project early like I've done some years.

Re: Unofficial NaNoWriMo Thread

(Anonymous) 2015-10-30 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
I will try! It is bound to go better than last year's when I decided to switch ideas during the first day when I realized that I hadn't done enough research and then consequently stopped writing (I got... 1200 words done). Now at least I have an idea that should hold water for at least a week.

I'm going to do my best, but I've got eye surgery mid-month so who knows if I'll cross the finish line this year?

I'm not brave enough to do NaNoWriMo since I've never written anything that long. However, I am currently working on my longest fic idea ever. I have 8 planned chapters so far. I was working on a few fic ideas that all had this connection of being fantasies of character A, and I came up with the idea to put them all together and do a chaptered series focusing on fantasies. I've been planning out ideas and I have 8 chapter ideas so far. I'm really excited about this. I'll be writing things I haven't written before and stretching myself as a writer.

I will actually be pretty scarce around here during November, working on a NanoWrimo project this year.
