Rape is a crime against men and women, depending on the gender of the victim. Rape is just a crime, like murder. It's not inherently linked to one gender.

That's simply not true. In an ideal world where dictionary definitions define reality, yes, theoretically rape could be a gender neutral crime. In the real world, though? No it's just not. it is inextricably linked to the societal domination of women.
