Pfft, that ain't shit, the fandom's darling ship is Papyrus x Mettaton, which I CAN'T FUCKING STAND. Ugh, too much self-centered in one place, and Papyrus is just annoying. Mettaton might actually work better with Sans, the tin can needs someone to ground him a bit.

I like both Mettaton and Papyrus, but god I do not get why people ship them at all and I keep seeing more and more of it.

I've seen people justify it as "the cinnamon roll and the sex symbol" being an inherently cute concept, but I think it's at least 50% because they're the only two adult-sized male characters besides Asgore. Also Papyrus refers to Mettaton as "[his] favorite sexy rectangle" in one of the phone calls.

How can anyone hate papyrus.

It must depend a lot on where you go and who you talk to-- I mean, I'm not even in the fandom, but I do see more of Sans/Toriel than anyone else, followed by Alphys/Undyne. (I *have* seen Mettaton/Papyrus, but only a couple times... so I guess the people I know who are into Undertale aren't really into that one either)
