Did I miss when he said he had feelings for her? I knew he grew really attached to Prentiss, and he was close to JJ, but I never realized it went that deep. I also never saw that extra footage.

If you ever post, I'd be happy to read it!

nayrt - It was fairly early on, probably within the first 3 seasons? It was a little crush, and at some point a team member nudges Reid to just ask her out already. To a sporting event, IIRC. It never came to anything in the show.

The video clip's on YouTube if you want to see it-just type in "Criminal Minds wedding video" or something like that and it should come up. Like stated, it's a funny video, so his "confession", as it were, is meant to be a humorous thing in that context and probably not meant to be taken all that seriously in the first place.

But as the person who replied to you notes, there were hints that he did seem to have a crush on her early on in the series, and after telling Gideon in an early episode that she's "the only one who calls me 'Spence'" Gideon encouraged him to ask her to a football game. Unfortunately their date happened off screen and we've never learned how it went, so we're left to guess how it all played out :p!

The show itself hasn't seemed to address the idea that he might still have feelings for her since then, they've just written them as close friends and nothing more (which I also enjoy! I may ship them, but I'm not expecting them to actually get together on the show-I'll consider it a pleasant surprise if that ever does happen :D. Otherwise, I'm fine with them staying friends, too, 'cause I do love their friendship).

But judging from some of their interactions over the years and some of the stuff they've been through together, I personally think there's still a small hint of that not-entirely-platonic affection lurking :). Either that or there was until Reid met Maeve, at least, who knows. And the video just inspired me to play with that idea a little bit.

I'm glad you like the story idea :)! I'd made some good headway in writing it a while back, so I'll keep poking at it and see what happens, and if and when I get it done I'll let you know! Thanks for the support!
