Been in one for 25 years (married), known him for over 30. I am white, he is not. Before I married, my parents begged me to find "a nice white boy" because "think of how your children will be rejected by everyone because they don't belong anywhere". Yeah, they actually said that, aloud, to me.

Well, I wasn't interested in children and neither was he, and to be perfectly frank, the ONLY people to EVER comment on my relationship or give me the stinkeye because I was with a non 2hite man have been white people, exclusively. An ex friend of mine actually said " Well hell, at least he ain't a n*****."

Aside from the crackers, though, its been a wonderful marriage to a loving human being.

Fuck the bigots, including my idiot parents.

Huh. I dated a black guy for years and my (white) family was totally fine with it. His family were absolute cunts about it.

I'm sorry you had to deal with such shitty attitudes. I never understood the, "Your children could be rejected/picked on!" argument. Yes, god forbid the people who actually say the racist things take responsibility for their actions. It's all the family's fault, clearly. *Rolls eyes*

(Not to mention, they do realize that the kids wouldn't have to worry about being teased about racial issues if people didn't say anything racist in the first place, right?)

Bah. Anywho, congratulations to the two of you on such a long and happy marriage :). I hope you guys continue to have many more wonderful years together.
