To me it's not what he can accomplish during his time in office but the message it sends to everyone there. If being like Bernie is what it takes to get people voting for them, they'll be more like Bernie.

conversely this has been applying to the Trump campaign as well. He has been gaining a sizeable and horrifying base by turning the rock over and displaying exactly what kind of pile of shit the fox news audience craves in their leadership.
