Just watched said clip in question - one of the other astronauts had just planted a tiny American flag and for whatever reason that got him laughing. Sound was off at the time so no idea what was said tho

I guess this is a good time to mention that those are economic blocks that where formed after the Calamity War that reestructured the whole government system, and which are now being ruled by the equivalent of the UN, and not actual countries.
