In-app purchase

(Anonymous) 2015-11-04 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Stupid question, but... if I download a free app that has extra content for a fee, does the fee get tacked onto the phone bill, or can I pay with a card?

'Cause I don't want to explain to the person who pays the bills why I bought a silly app. Yanno.

If it's on Android or Apple, you have to have a card paired with your Google Play or AppleID to buy apps and in-app purchases.

Doh, I should have mentioned it was Android. Thank you! I haven't put a card on my account so far, to my knowledge... so do I add one when I buy something, or is the account holder supposed to have already had one? I've only ever gotten free apps to this point, so I dunno.

Google Play and AppleID accounts are totally separate from the account with your cellphone provider. You can find more info on setting up your payment method here: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/4646404?hl=en

Note: you CAN bill app purchases to your phone carrier, but you can also use a separate card entirely, or even fill up your account with redeemed gift cards.
