well, ohio is voting on measures today that address gerrymandering in the state, a major step forward in general.

the problem is that democracy as a whole on the federal and state level has been undermined considerably by external money, lobbyists, and 1%ers. not that we're in some sort of monstrous hellscape yet, but what the system is supposed to be has been altered considerably to benefit a narrow slice of the few.

and the few have made it functionally impossible to punch upwards through conventional methods. say bernie wins - bernie is in a grandfathered position to even try because he's been around since before this got really bad. bernie can't do much.

hillary won't do much because it affects her future and bottom line. she's not hell incarnate, but her vested interests are not necessarily what mainstream america really needs.

trump is laughable and carson is insane.

and yet nothing can take this over. nothing can punch up without a MAJOR industry backing, which even Obama had when he swept into Hillary's pole position years ago.

the problem is fundamental and buried deep in the system.
