See, but following the logic of anything with a mostly female cast being targeted at women, and most fanfic writers being female...then by sheer number, those would be the fandoms generating most fic.

Which is not the case.

So yes, I do think that straight (and possibly bi, but can't speak for those) women will always want to see more male characters, especially if they're in fandom for shipping.
