(Anonymous) 2015-11-04 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)But I find the idea that's if it's not systemic then it's not racism a damaging idea to perpetuate. It's also rather short sighted and ridiculous, considering that there are so many incidence of racism in the world where one race/culture is not overtly and incontestably more privileged/powerful/dominant/oppressive than the other.
Do I support the idea of calling non-systemic incidence of racism "racial prejudice"? Maybe? I personally am willing to adopt that terminology and make the effort to use it when and where appropriate. However, I think for many less invested people, a term like "racial prejudice" will just seem annoying and pretentious. It will complicate and already complicated issue, and will turn many people off.
