Re: Question for anyone who goes/ever went to a psychologist
(Anonymous) 2015-11-05 12:34 am (UTC)(link)I suppose a lot of therapists who have "normal" clients (that is, if you don't have some disorder/disability, or have levels of anxiety/depression that aren't too severe) try and be an ear to listen, because lots of people feel better just articulating their problems because by doing so, they can be easier to solve or put into perspective.
But "real" therapy is behavioral therapy, where they try to identify problematic ways of thinking, isolate them, and prepare exercises to try to shift that way of thinking.
It could be that your therapist is trying to get a feel for you, but if you feel like you need more, talk to them, or request someone else.
