They generally let you set the tone for your sessions, so they may be waiting for you to ask for something specifically.

Have you talked about your goals for therapy at all? Asked for advice on a certain topic?

It's not unusual, I think, to view the first few sessions as a sort of warm up. Most people don't want to talk about what bothers them most in the first session or sessions. Taking a passive approach and listening without questioning and drawing conclusions is an excellent way to build trust and confidence. The fact that you feel you've been able to be open and are now waiting for feedback is a positive thing.

If you try to open the discussion up to them and they still don't make an effort to engage with you, I would say you might be better off finding someone different.
