Yeah but like, if someone doesn't like red hair it would still be pretty crappy of them to say red hair is "gross". It's natural and the people who have it can't help the way their body is naturally. They can change the appearance of it if they want but yeah, it's not really a nice thing to say.

I guess, though I've never heard anyone say it for red hair.

To clarify though I was partly nonplussed because AIRT called it "childish" which is an odd word choice to me.

I guess another reason I hadn't thought about it much that way is because when I say I think body hair is gross (which I sort of do, not for all kinds/amounts of hair but some) I'm also referring to my own and it's part of why I choose to shave it off. I just don't like it. It's never intended as a judgment towards people who don't shave and I fully understand some people like it. I'm really sorry if I've offended anyone by saying so, though.

idk my main experience of people who actually will comment on your body hair negatively to your face or in your vicinity is like, 13 year old boys, so maybe that's where the "childish" impression comes from. Like, boys who aren't yet mature enough to realise that everyone has body hair and it's normal. I mean I guess girls do this too but in my experience it's been boys.

Yeah I never thought you were trying to be a jerk or anything, and I don't think you came off like a jerk either. Like you say, I just assumed you hadn't thought about it in that way so I was just pointing out how other people might take your statement. I guess it's just that unless you clarify that it's your own hair you're talking about it kind of sounds like you're saying it about everyone's, even if you don't direct it that way in speech.

Anyway, we're cool.

Thanks for your honest reply. I will definitely be more careful about how I talk about stuff like that. :)
